A day like any other day for Abram became a day unlike any other day and changed the course of history…..because he heard the Word of the Lord, he trusted Him and he obeyed!
God’s desire is that we choose to enter into a new life with Him and that we experience this new life to the full!
In the New Testament of the Bible, in the book of Romans chapter 12, the Apostle Paul speaks on the diligent use of spiritual gifts among the brethren. Right at this time, he makes the following statement: “Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good. Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honour giving preference to one another”
In the book of Genesis in the Bible, at the time that God made His covenant with Abraham that He would give the Israelites the promised land, the promise was for Abraham and his seed. As a sign of that covenant, the Lord had instructed Abraham, for each male to be circumcised on the eighth day of his life. “This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee; Every man child among you shall be circumcised.
Jesus wants all men to enter into this truth – that Jesus died to sin once, for all mankind. “For the death that He (Christ) died, He died to sin once for all” – Romans 6:10.
When speaking of Jesus, the writer of Hebrews said: “Therefore, when He (Jesus) came into the world, He said: ‘Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, but a bodyYou have prepared for Me. In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin You had no pleasure. Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come—In the volume of the book it is written of me’” (Hebrews 10:5-7). (These words were quoted from Psalm 40:6 & 7)
