One of these ways seemed devoid of a relationship with our Heavenly Father, while the other revealed the faith of a child. In the first, the person stood far off from the Father, asking questions out of fear and angst, apparently doubting His love. In the second, in contrast I saw a child, sitting on the Father’s lap, relaxed in their repose, pointing at things and asking, “Why?” “What’s that?” “What for?” The questions came in quick succession and the answers were given patiently, by the Father in His time. In the first, the focus was on the angst and the questions, in the second, the focus was on the relationship with the Father and being held safe and secure in His arms.
“Then they also brought infants to Him that He might touch them; but when the disciples saw it, they rebuked them. But Jesus called them to Him and said,
‘Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it.’” — Luke 18:15-17
