As I was getting ready for church this morning, for some reason the Lord brought to my mind the character of Micky Mouse. Micky Mouse was a cartoon character created by Walt (Walter) Disney in the 1920s, originally illustrated by Ubbe Ert Iwwerks.
The thought then came to me that over the years, many illustrators, cartoonists and animators would have drawn the same character of Micky Mouse, but they would all have had to draw it in the same way as the original, to make it look authentic. Later, the styles of the illustrations did begin to change over a period of time, but the character itself remained the same.
Even so, the words then came to me,
“Be imitators of Christ.”
“Patterned after My design.”
The Apostle Paul said,
“Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ.”
1 Corinthians 11:1
And again,
“Brethren, join in following my example, and note those who so walk, as you have us for a pattern.”
Philippians 3:17
“Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.”
Ephesians 5:1 & 2
